Maricopa County Shelters Extend Adoption Hours to Serve You Better
Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is making it easier for Valley residents to find their new furry friends by expanding adoption hours across its three shelters. Effective July 21, the new hours will stretch from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, making it more convenient for potential adopters to visit and interact with animals in need of homes.
Why The Change Matters: Increased Adoption Opportunities
By expanding operational hours, MCACC is acknowledging the busy schedules of families and individuals, allowing for greater flexibility in pet adoption. With evening hours now available, more people can visit the shelters after work or school, significantly increasing the likelihood of finding homes for the many animals awaiting adoption.
What You Need to Know Before You Go
If you plan to adopt, MCACC advises arriving at least 45 minutes prior to closing. This additional time allows for a proper meet-and-greet with potential adoptees. It's also important to note that the shelter does not conduct animal-animal meet and greets, so prospective adopters are asked to refrain from bringing their pets with them.
Essential Reminders for Adopters
Adopters are required to transport their new pets safely in a vehicle. Additionally, valid identification is necessary to finalize an adoption. These measures are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of both the animals and their new families.
