Discover the Sonoran Sipper: A Limited Beer Celebrating Local Ingredients

Vibrant Sonoran Sipper cream ale can with skull design.

Celebrating Local Flavors with the Sonoran Sipper Cream Ale

In an exciting collaboration that embodies the spirit of community, O.H.S.O. Brewery + Distillery has joined forces with Local First Arizona to launch the Sonoran Sipper, a limited edition cream ale. This refreshing brew, crafted with the vibrant flavors of hibiscus and lime zest, aims to put a spotlight on Arizona's rich agricultural heritage by incorporating local ingredients from nearby farms.

Source Local, Taste Local

The Sonoran Sipper features malted barley from the century-old Sossaman Farms in Queen Creek. This pioneering farm is making strides into modern brewing by establishing Homestead Malting, which allows the beer to truly be produced from "seed to stein" within the Valley. Additionally, the unique hibiscus used in the brew is sourced from Shamba AZ, an urban farm committed to providing nutritious local produce. This partnership is made possible thanks to Sun Produce Cooperative, which has worked tirelessly to improve access to healthy local food across Arizona.

A Brew with a Mission

According to Kimber Lanning, CEO of Local First Arizona, this collaboration reflects the creativity and unity among the craft beer community in Arizona. "By sourcing local ingredients, we created something that reflects the best of Arizona," she stated, highlighting the importance of hometown pride in every pour. The Sonoran Sipper will not only be available at O.H.S.O.'s various locations but also at the upcoming Arizona Fall Fest, where all proceeds from the sales will support Local First Arizona's initiatives.

Joining Hands for Community Support

The launch of this eco-friendly beer aligns with the broader mission of supporting local businesses and fostering a vibrant, inclusive economy. In line with this goal, O.H.S.O. has pledged that 100% of the proceeds from the Sonoran Sipper sold at the Fall Fest, scheduled for November 8, will benefit Local First Arizona, aiming to build a stronger local economy. "It's about more than just beer; it’s about contributing to a cause that's vital for our community," said Jon Lane, owner of O.H.S.O.

The Sonoran Sipper will debut on October 25 during a special release party at O.H.S.O. Sunnyslope, providing patrons an opportunity not only to enjoy a unique beer but also to engage in a meaningful cause. So mark your calendars and join in supporting local ingredients while sipping on a taste of Arizona!

EPCOR Secures 100-Year Water Supply: Paving the Way for 60,000 New Homes in Arizona

Update The Historic Water Supply Designation: A Boon for Arizona In a significant milestone for Arizona’s growth and sustainability, EPCOR has secured a 100-year designation of assured water supply, allowing for the development of 60,000 new homes in the West Valley. This historic Alternative Designation of Assured Water Supply (ADAWS) is the first of its kind since the introduction of the 100-year designation in the Phoenix Active Management Area (AMA) 25 years ago. The move, endorsed by Governor Katie Hobbs, marks a pivotal moment in balancing economic growth with water resource management. Promoting Sustainable Growth Amid Challenges Governance and responsible resource management are at the heart of this achievement. Governor Hobbs expressed her confidence in Arizona's potential to grow sustainably while protecting vital water resources. As EPCOR's Senior Vice President Shawn Bradford pointed out, the ADAWS will facilitate the utility's capability to leverage its water portfolio for more sustainable development, ensuring minimal impact on groundwater resources. The Economic Impact: More Housing, More Opportunities The implications of this new water supply designation extend beyond just numbers; it symbolizes a lifeline for the housing market in the West Valley. With this designation, home builders can expedite projects, such as Elliott Homes’ instant commencement of 500 new homes at Granite Vista. Such developments will not only alleviate the ongoing housing shortage but contribute to Arizona's burgeoning economy, which has seen recent pressures from rising living costs and housing demand. A Collaborative Approach to Water Management This collaboration between the state government and water operators exemplifies a proactive stance towards one of Arizona’s most pressing issues. Valley Partnership’s President, Clark Princell, reiterated the importance of continued partnership to leverage water resources effectively and grow sustainably. The roadmap laid out by EPCOR’s achievement reflects a comprehensive strategy for tackling future water management challenges, promising stability for local communities. Looking Ahead: The Future of Housing in Arizona As demand for housing in Arizona continues to surge, this new water supply framework provides the essential resources needed for growth. It sets a precedent for future development, illustrating that with careful planning and infrastructure, cities like Phoenix can cater to increasing populations without compromising on quality of life. The housing projects enabled by this designation represent not just homes, but a vision for a sustainable future in Arizona.
